Kid Governor is a program that allows a representative fifth-grader from each school in the state of Vermont to participate. At Thomas Fleming School, Graham Luck in Ms. Coviello’s class won the vote for Kid Governor. He ran against multiple other students from Ms. Coviello’s and Ms. Lee’s classes.  His opponents from Thomas Fleming were Helen, Ernie, Emma, Aaral, Adelyn, and Eva. His goal is to help the homeless get money and food.

“I want to make Vermont a better place.” Graham Luck said. “I am going to run multiple food drives to help the homeless.”

“I was against some other talented representatives, and I had no idea I was going to win,” Luck said. 

“I think the other representatives did great, and their videos were amazing,” he added.                                    

The process of Vermont’s Kid Governor program has multiple steps. First, volunteers are selected from multiple schools to make videos explaining why they would make a good governor. After that, the representatives are voted for and the winner moves to the final round of voting. Finally, the winner of the final round meets the actual Governor of Vermont, then gets to change Vermont. To learn more about the Kid Governor program, click here.
