This year’s Run, Walk & Roll, put on by Big Beautiful Life is on Sunday, June 14th at Essex Middle School. This event, along with their First Responder Touch-A-Truck, is a way for the community to come together to support and bring awareness to Big Beautiful Life’s mission.
Big Beautiful Life is a nonprofit organization founded in Essex, Vermont by Addi Carrol’s parents after her death in 2022. According to the organization’s website they work hard “providing children in chronic medical crisis ongoing compassionate comfort and support throughout their journey.”
The funds that are raised through the event will help Big Beautiful Life provide financial assistance, care packages, and other support to the children and their families that they are helping.
“Beautiful Life made us know that they were here for us and that we weren’t alone during my son’s hospital stay,” said Molly Farrar, an interventionist in the Essex Westford School District. “When he got home from the hospital she arranged a welcome home parade for him with Essex Fire and Rescue Department, surrounding fire departments, friends and community members.”
The Run Walk & Roll welcomes participants of different ages and abilities. There is a 1.2k race, which is flat and fully accessible to everyone, and a 5k with an option to take Gorman’s Gulch, a gulch that was named after one of Addi’s doctors. For those who aren’t participating in the races, they can enjoy the First Responder Touch-A-Truck, a dance party, crafts, face painting, free ice cream, and much more.
People interested in participating can find more information about how to register through Big Beautiful Life’s website.
