Little League Opening Day took place at Maple Street Park on May 2, 2026.
Essex Junction Little League has been around for 54 years. The opening day parade began at 9:15 am, and the ceremony started at 9:30 am and ended around 10:00 am.
The Little League Minor division played their games right after the ceremony, and the Majors played at 12:45 pm. Teams played about 3-5 games during Opening Day.
Coaches and All-Star Teams were recognized, along with sponsors and board members. Coffee, hot chocolate, and donuts from a new bakery called Glazed were offered at the concession stand, along with other food choices.
James Goodwin, a Little League Majors Division player, shared his thoughts on opening day.
“I think it was really fun and everyone played good,” Goodwin said.
When asked about the upcoming season, Goodwin said, “I think it’s going to be fun, and everyone is going to win in their own way.”
Sawyer Wallace, another Little League Major player, shared his perspective on opening day.
“It’s good and a fun way to kick off the season,” he said.
Opening day is an annual fan-favorite event for EJLL at Maple Street Park.
