Our Essex, Vermont community is offering fun things to do for the fall season, whether it’s taking a scenic drive during peak foliage, apple picking at Chapin’s Orchard, navigating a fun corn maze at Whitcomb’s Land of Pumpkins and Corn Maze, or getting spooked at Nightmare Vermont.
Vermont is one of the best places in the U.S. to take in all the foliage. At this point in October, the brilliant reds, oranges, and yellows are popping all across the state from the mountains to the valleys. Vermont has many scenic trails to view the display from, like the popular Smugglers Notch in the greater Mount Mansfield area. Yet even standing in your front yard is one way to experience it all.
Chapin’s Orchard offers the perfect autumn experience for all those who make the stop. The orchard offers apple picking with a large variety of different apples. Their apples are in perfect condition and all the baked goods are fresh. There are also warm apple cider tastings. Chapin’s is open 7 days a week from 9:30 to 5:30. The beautiful orchard can be found at 150 Chapin Rd, Essex Junction.
What better way to celebrate the fall than to get into the spooky spirit? Nightmare Vermont, a thrilling charity Halloween event, is returning to Vermont for its 20th anniversary. The Nightmare Vermont team is overjoyed to welcome community members back to their haunted house. “Get ready for Halloween because we’ve been dying to get your pulsing hearts in our scabby little hands again,” a team staff member said. “And we can’t WAIT to hear you scream.” For more information, check out this article from another Hive writer.
