The Las Vegas Grand Prix is happening on November 24th, after the Triple Header of Austin, Mexico, and Brazil. It’s sure to be an interesting race considering the last few races this season. Many people question who the race winner will be and what team will have the best pace on track.
This is the second Las Vegas in the modern F1 era. However, there were two races at Caesar’s Palace in 1981-82. In 2023, the race was won by Dutch-Belgian driver Max Verstappen, the 3 time F1 Champion, followed by Charles Leclerc from Monaco, and Checo Perez from Mexico.
The Las Vegas GP is one of the biggest GPs of F1 because of its location and the people that come to see it and perform. Most notably this year Ludacris, One Republic, and Alesso are set to play at the Vegas Sphere that weekend.
This season has had a big shift from the previous seasons as Verstappen held high dominance in the top field where he won every race with the exception of Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan won by Perez, and Singapore won by Carlos Sainz from Spain.
However, in this season we have already had 7 different race winners, which include Verstappen, Leclerc, the British drivers Norris, Hamilton, Russel, Australian Piastri, and Spanish Sainz. This makes it incredibly tricky to attempt to predict a race winner for the Las Vegas GP.
We have seen that the simple upgrade in the McLaren car has moved their team from the mid field to the top field. We’ve seen RedBull losing their dominance with them falling back on the board, after many other teams started to upgrade their cars as well.
Las Vegas has been a strange topic in the F1 community as residents of Las Vegas and some F1 fans finding it tiresome with all the chaos getting in the way of the work, while other fans and critics found it a success with a lot of money and publicity happening for the sport.
“There was so much uncertainty about which cars would perform, what strategy was best. Chuck in some yellow flags and plenty of overtaking and Formula One can be pleased with a successful weekend,” Aiden McLaughlin from Sportsfreak said.
Las Vegas residents found the race a bother for people who work or live in the area and found it frustrating to have to deal with traffic, dust, noise, and roadwork.
“I work along the track. It sucked. F1 took over our parking lot, so I had to park nearly a mile away and walk to work everyday,” a Las Vegas resident on Reddit, user Kazick_Fairwind, described.
However this year’s race shows promise as it should be less chaotic than the last due to multiple new ideas and lessons from last year’s race.
