Every year, the Super Bowl is one of the most-watched sporting events in the world. This year it’s panning out to be more of the same. With the San Francisco Forty-Niners coming out of the NFC and the Kansas City Chiefs out of the AFC, this will be a rematch of the Super Bowl from just four years prior.Â
The Chiefs are no stranger to the big game; the Super Bowl has featured the Chiefs four of the last five years. The Chiefs have walked away with two Super Bowl wins in that span, establishing great consistency and a winning culture in Kansas City.Â
The road back to the Super Bowl was incredibly challenging compared to previous years. The Chiefs enter this Super Bowl with the worst regular season record they’ve had in the last six seasons, and the offense has shown a propensity to stall out for long stretches. Despite looking shaky at times, the Chiefs went 11-6, upset the Bills and Ravens in the playoffs, and now have a chance to become the first repeat champions since the 04 Patriots.Â
Premier players such as quarterback Patrick Mahomes, tight end Travis Kelce, and defensive tackle Chris Jones have stepped up during the playoffs and led them to a Super Bowl berth, but will it be enough to keep a star-studded Forty-Niners team in check? It all falls on the shoulders of Patrick Mahomes, arguably the best quarterback in the game. Can he do it? We will see on Super Bowl Sunday.
On the NFC side of things, the Forty-Niners have clear motivation. It’s been way too long; the last time the Forty-Niners won a Super Bowl was 1995.Â
The Forty-Niners are appearing in their third Super Bowl in the last 12 years, and their second in the last five years. The team they have assembled this year is arguably the best they have had since that 1995 win.Â
The Forty-Niners have nine league-leading pro bowlers, including eight starters. For the Super Bowl, they will be showing up with a plethora of firepower both offensively and defensively.Â
On the offensive side of the ball, the Forty-Niners have star quarterback Brock Purdy, running back Christian McCaffery, wide receivers Deebo Samuel and Brandon Aiyuk, tight end George Kittle, and offensive lineman Trent Williams. On the defensive side, Fred Warner is arguably the best middle linebacker in the game.
Who is going to win the Super Bowl? The argument for both teams is clear; Patrick Mahomes has been unstoppable in the playoffs, and the Forty-Niners have a team that, on paper, should never lose. For me, I think the Forty-Niners are just too talented, and they take down the Chiefs 35-24.
