At Thomas Fleming School, Ms. Osborne’s and Ms. Guntulis’s fifth-grade classes went to Summit Street Preschool and the free library at Maple Street Park. They worked on yarn dolls, dolls made of yarn, for three days and brought them to the preschool and free library for kids to play with.
This gives kids a choice to be able to play with toys within and outside the school, if they couldn’t afford a toy before.
“Making yarn dolls was fun,” Palmer Sawyer said. “The walk was fun, and I hope the little kids can play with the dolls at home.”
The dolls were of many different shapes and sizes, and were a good community project for the students. After the dolls were delivered, the kids went to the playground at Maple Street Park to play.
“The walk was fun, and so was playing at Maple Street Park,” Brady Bagnall said. “And I think the kids will be grateful for the dolls. It was a great experience.”
