EHS Student Government met for a full block on Thursday, December 12th.
Here’s the rundown:
- President James Steward and Vice President Derin Suren shared finding a venue for the Winter Ball, which will be held at the Farmhouse at The Essex. Administration was adamant about keeping the Winter Ball in the Essex community.
- The VT Secretary of State will be visiting with members of Student Government after midterms.
- Bingo night at an elderly living facility was proposed by Community Service to combat loneliness in the winter.
- Students will reading to kids at Summit Street School and Hiawatha after midterms.
Some proposals, however, required more discussion. A proposal can be sent back to discuss, or they can be amended at the moment.
- $710 was requested for ordering shirts for Student Gov members. A concern was brought up about no one wearing last year’s shirts, which was quickly countered with statistics from a Google Form that over 50% of students wore their shirts.
- A proposal of cooking for Food Not Bombs was revised after more research about the foundation, and was passed once it was amended to a more local place.
- Finance revised their proposal of Trivia Night, making it now free. There was a long discussion about whether the Finance Committee should propose activities or not. The conclusion was that each committee has the choice about what they can propose.
