Student Government is a student-led organization at Essex High School that simulates the federal government, allowing students to step into leadership roles and make changes. Student Government operates through weekly committee meetings where proposals are drafted. They are subsequently reviewed monthly during full-block meetings.
The Issues Committee is looking into graduation cords for Student Government seniors.
The leaders are also looking to add more breakfast options. They also organize regular parking lot clean-ups to keep our campus clean.
The Spirit Committee promotes school community through events like Spirit Fridays. This is a new event happening monthly where there will be themed days.
Winter Ball, an annual EHS dance is progressing well, with a venue and DJ secured.
“I would say the winter ball planning is going pretty well,” Maiberger said. “I’m not sure if it’s still a surprise yet, but they have a venue and a DJ, and I think they’re just trying to work out the pricing of it, and probably going to work on some decorations.”
The Finance Committee is planning events like Casino Night and Trivia Night, and also working on Winter Ball, a major revenue-generating event.
EHS Student Government is working to ensure everyone has a fulfilling 2024 – 2025 school year. If you are interested in Student Government you can run for it in the early fall of next school year.
